The Gap
Two friends go out to the backcountry. One of them is eight months clear of a psychotic break. Then they find something at the treeline.
What it is
A first-person psychological horror game about two men who have known each other a long time, and the week that puts that to the test. One of them came out of a psychotic episode eight months ago and has been steady since. He is the one who sees it first.
The thing in the woods is not the frightening part. The frightening part is being the only witness to your own experience, and needing someone to take your word for it anyway.
They were supposed to be alone out there. They are not.
Where it actually is
Pre-production. There is no demo, no store page, and no release date, and I am not going to invent one to make this page feel further along than it is. The teaser is 82 seconds of finished footage and it exists to answer one question: is this worth building?
If you want to know when there is something to play, the list below is the only place that gets told.
Get told when it's playable
One email when there is a demo. One when there is a release date. That is the whole plan.
This is The Gap's own list. It is separate from The Human Frequency newsletter, so you will not get parenting science you did not ask for. Unsubscribe in one click.
Trailer imagery generated with Higgsfield; edited, scored, mixed and colour graded by hand in DaVinci Resolve. The game itself is in pre-production.
The Gap is made by Jared Ohman at The Human Frequency Inc., the same one-person studio behind the Human OS Wiki and a stack of software nobody would guess shares a desk with a horror game.
It is a less strange pairing than it looks. The wiki is about recovery language, and about what happens between two people who are each working from information the other one cannot see. So is this.
